Who is Eligible to Participate in Colon Check?
Men and Women ages 50-74, living in certain BC communities are eligible. This includes residents of the following areas:
- Penticton, Summerland and the South Okanagan (including Oliver, Osoyoos, Naramata, Okanagan Falls)
- Powell River, includes Lund, Blubber Bay, Gillies Bay, Savary Island, Van Anda and Toba
- Vancouver residents with the following postal code prefixes: V6B, V6C, V6E, V6G, V6Z, V7X, V7Y and V5K, V5M, V5R.
People with a family history of colorectal cancer can participate in Colon Check.
People with a personal history of colorectal cancer, ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease should continue to obtain care from their primary health care provider.
Individual colorectal cancer screening is already available through health care providers in BC. Those ineligible for Colon Check are encouraged to obtain care through their health care provider.
